COVID-19: Imo State Governor Inaugurates 27 Interim Management Committee

The Imo State Governo Mr. Hope Uzodimma inaugurated the Interim Management Committee(IMC) of the various Local Governments in Imo State. The Management shall take over as the head of covid-19 Management Committees for the 27 Local Governments in Imo State.
It is now obvious that the primary concern of the Imo State Government at the moment is to ensure that the Coronavirus does not get into Imo State. They have been mandated to co-opt the existing health workers at the various Local Governments for this assignment.

According to the Governor, they will also be deploying members of the National Health Committee for Disease Control who came in from Abuja to the various Local Governments. Same with members of the World Health Organisation (WHO) who were already Imo State as at when this report was given. The Governor said they will be talking with the Red Cross who will arrange for volunteer workers that will help take their message to the grassroots.

For the IMC, the cardinal thing that must be done is to sensitize the people about the various precautionary measures to taking. Messages about the various measures against COVID-19 like the use of hand sanitizers, social distancing, washing their hands must be taken to the grassroots. The IMC are urged to liaise with the traditional rulers and town unions in their various communities for a more cohesive and synergistic approach to the task ahead.

According to the Governor, by the weekend they shall be sending across some palliatives. Having awareness that the cost of living has suddenly increased this period. So, they will be assisting people by procuring some food items. And sending these items down to the various Local Governments, wards and communities to share.
